Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Linked2Literacy is committed to instilling a lifelong love of reading for children in our community. In July 2023, we proudly became the designated Local Partner for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. In 2024, we added Thurston County.
Thousands of local Imagination Library partners around the world help bring that vision to their communities. Linked2Literacy (L2L) is the local partner serving Lancaster and Thurston Counties in Nebraska. L2L currently contributes $2.60 per book mailed to a child in the service area to help offset the cost of the book and mailing and is responsible for raising those funds locally. L2L also handles the local work of enrolling children, reaching families, building community partnerships, promoting the program and supporting its continued growth.
The Dollywood Foundation provides the enormous infrastructure that makes the Imagination Library possible, including book selection and publishing relationships, enrollment and database systems, fulfillment, and the coordination necessary to mail millions of books to children around the world.
Locally, more than 54% of children receive a free, age-appropriate book every month from birth to age five. And that number continues to grow.
Companies, individuals and community partners help keep the books coming. Learn more about our Imagination Library supporters and contribute to become one of them.
About DPIL
The Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to all participating children from birth to age five. Partnerships with local communities allow these high-quality books to be gifted directly to children and families.
In these crucial early years, shared reading can spark imagination, nurture creativity, and lay the groundwork for a lifelong love of learning. Many children, especially those from lower-income homes, face limited book access. The Imagination Library supports parents and communities in fostering a child’s love of literacy through enhanced language and literacy opportunities at home, regardless of income.
